You want to serve your clients deeply.

You are in this field for a reason, and showing up for your therapy clients with the right healing tools is something that is incredibly important to you.

As a therapist, you understand that the narratives we tell ourselves shape our experiences and relationships. Birth story processing lets us dive deep alongside our clients and grants the opportunity to create a space within which this important step into parenthood, or transitioning within parenthood, can be honored, witnessed, and held.

Make it Your Own

Birth story processing can be combined with your own unique style and therapy personality. There are countless ways to use therapy modalities alongside it. Weave what you learn into your own practice in a way that is authentic to you and feels natural.

Birth Story Brave, Reimagined

After my daughter was born, I felt quite the tug to create something that would serve others. I wanted birthing people to have a place to reflect on the impact and experience of the birthing process- not just the details family and friends ask about after baby is born, but deeper, raw feelings and thoughts. Through that tug, Birth Story Brave was born. With a series of gentle prompts and questions, the book guides readers through reflecting on their birth experiences in a supportive way.

Last summer I published an updated version of this helpful tool. The new version has some additional questions, a new section for parents who experienced a NICU stay with their little one(s), and a focus on inclusive language. While this is a book that can be used alone by readers, completing it in the company of a professional (doula, therapist, etc. depending on the individual's needs) can be supportive and powerful in a very magical way.
